Empire Petroleum is a leading motor fuels distributor of top brands including Sunoco, BP, Chevron, Texaco, Valero, Gulf, and Getty / Lukoil. Additionally, Empire has developed its own brand and image named empire’s fast fuels. Headquartered in the Washington, D.C. Metro area, we currently distribute motor fuel product to gas stations in 12 states. From our mid-atlantic base, we have grown into a regional distribution powerhouse serving markets in the southeast and midwest, with current expansion plans into the northeast.

Empire Petroleum is a privately held company focused on the wholesale distribution of motor fuels and various other distribution related services within the energy and real estate industries. Our strength derives from over a decade of providing unparalleled service to customers.

Empire Petroleum started in 1998 as a fuel distributor for Getty in the Washington, D.C. area, adding the Sunoco and BP brands in 2000 and the Marathon, Chevron, Texaco, Valero, and Gulf brands in 2010. In addition to our branded partners, Empire has its own unbranded flag, Empire’s Fast Fuels, under which we supply unbranded motor fuel products to independent operators in three states currently.

Empire’s management team brings extensive experience in fuel distribution, real estate law, real estate development and management, retail business investment and operations, and financial and investment analysis. Our managers’ potent mix of expertise and cumulative accomplishments positions Empire as a formidable leader in the fuel distribution industry.
 
 
Hank Heithaus
Chief  Executive Officer
Hank Heithaus has extensive petroleum industry experience spanning 4 decades. Prior to joining Empire Hank was President of Murphy, USA, and held senior management positions at Sohio, which has since been acquired by BP. Hank has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati, and an MBA from Xavier University.
 

Rick Golman

Executive Vice President
Rick has over 35 years of experience in the fuel and convenience store industry.  He and his brother were instrumental in shifting their company’s focus from owning and managing liquor stores in the 1980’s to primarily focusing on the development and management of convenience stores as well as expanding into the fuel distributorship business becoming one of the largest Shell distributors in the U.S. prior to merging with Empire. Rick currently has a seat on the board of Empire and concentrates most of his efforts on expanding the Empire footprint through acquisitions.  Rick attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in Management from the School of Business.

 
David Potter
Chief Financial Officer
David Potter joins Empire after serving as Chief Financial Officer at Alon Brands, Inc., the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the U.S., operating over 300 c-stores in Texas and New Mexico. David has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a CPA and Certified Valuation Analyst.
 
Michael Diebus
Chief Operating Officer
Michael has over 20 years of experience in the industry. Earlier in his career, Michael held positions at Motiva and Star Enterprise/Texaco. Most recently, Michael was General Manager of The Wills Group – Potomac Energy Holdings, where he was responsible for business development, sales team training and marketing, real estate finance and development, forecasting, and territory startup & turnaround.
Travis E. Booth
Secretary / General Counsel
Mr. Travis Booth launched his career in 2005 practicing commercial real estate law in Montgomery County, Maryland prior to joining Empire Petroleum. Mr. Booth has represented some of the largest commercial landlords on the East Coast on all leasing matters ranging from simple lease agreement form projects to sophisticated negotiations on large mixed-use developments. Since joining Empire, Mr. Booth has served as General Counsel and is in charge of all legal matters, ranging from real estate issues to mergers and acquisitions to patent work.
